As a fine artist, Heather draws upon her education in studio art, interior design and architecture. Her passion for history fuels her. She takes inspiration from natural elements and enjoys capturing a universal spirit of timeless day dreaming. A shape catching the light in just the right way against a vast sky can sometimes say it all.
She hopes to translate a belief that the subject, or geography, is not the main point. Moreover, her message is about a feeling that one gets at a moment in time. A universal journey.
Whether painting in a detailed representational style; or with gestural free brushwork; or in the abstract, she creates a world of familiar truths that makes the viewer wish to jump in.
Heather has painted for the last 5 years from a beautiful light filled studio space in the historic Westerly RI downtown. Before this, she was an active part of the artist community at The Velvet Mill from 2009 until 2020.
